1. A good diet
A balanced diet is important for the health of your eyes. Some foods are particularly important, such as green vegetables for vitamin A, citrus fruits (like oranges and grape fruits) for Vitamin C and fish for omega 3.

Staying active and playing sports helps you to stay healthy. Also, it will prevent you getting diseases like diabetes which can damage your eyes.

4. Wear your glasses
If you need glasses or lenses to see properly, then you need to make sure that you wear them exactly like your ophthalmologist told you. You must also take care of it, with the help of an adult if necessary.

5. Good hygiene
Some diseases such as conjunctivitis are caused by bacteria, so you need to make sure that you have good hygiene habits.
If you wear lenses, you should wash your hands when you put them on and remove them to avoid getting dirt in your eyes.

6. Adequate protection
If you play hockey with your friends, if you're in chemistry class, or at the pool; you must wear the appropriate protection so that your eyes are not damaged.

7. Beware of the sun
When you are in the sun, you should always wear good sunglasses. Be careful, some sunglasses do not protect properly and can be dangerous. Make sure they give good UV protection when you choose them, and never look at the sun directly.

8. Rest your eyes
Any screen, whether it’s your computer, smartphone, tablet or TV, gives out a blue light which can be very tiring for your eyes. So, to rest your eyes, take breaks every 20 minutes.

9. No cigarettes
Cigarettes are very dangerous for your health in general, and it can cause major damage to your vision, and can even make you blind.

Do any members of your family have any vision problems or particular illnesses? If you’re not sure, ask them because diseases are transmitted from generation to generation so you will want to know.
